RUAG Space USA, Inc. (RSU) is a U.S. incorporated company, staffed 100% with U.S. persons.  We are registered with the U.S. Department of State as a manufacturing and exporter of defense articles, as required under ITAR. The RSU Denver Electronics team works in concert with RUAG Space Product Units (PUs) in Europe.

RUAG Space is a leading supplier of products for the institutional and commercial space markets in Europe and the USA. RUAG Space has three product groups:

  • Space Electronics
    • Electronics delivering computers and interface units for satellites and launchers, navigation receivers & signal processing, power & drive electronics, microwave for telecom satellites and space antennas.
  • Spacecraft Hardware
    • Spacecraft delivering structures, mechanisms, slip rings, thermal systems and MGSE.
  • Launch Systems
    • Launchers delivering fairings, structures, adapters, dispensers and sounding rocket guidance systems.

With over 40 years of experience in the development of cutting-edge space technologies, RUAG has more than 1,100 hardware systems on-orbit with 100% operational success including more than 300 launches without failure.

Responsibilities

The Senior Business Development Manager, Spacecraft Products, based in the USA and reporting to the Director, Business Development Commercial US, is responsible for the development of North American customers and sales opportunities for mechanical and thermal products of RUAG Space.

In particular, this role requires the right candidate to:

  • Build and maintain trusted business relationships with industry customers
  • Create, develop and implement new business opportunities for the product area with satellite and launch vehicle builders, in line with RUAG’s market strategy
  • Initiate and run customer marketing initiatives and campaigns, through meetings, roadmap discussions, conference events, etc.
  • Coordinate interaction with customers through-out the sales process, in alignment across product groups and M&S team
  • Coordinate and support bids from product group, providing guidance for win theme and pricing
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date relevant business intelligence and market data to support yearly strategy update, planning, and product development roadmaps
  • Be an active member of the Product Group M&S meetings

Profile

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business development, program management and/or system engineering
  • Minimum 2 years in similar responsibility
  • Solid experence with satellites and satellite equipment, specifically mechanisms, thermal, structures, system engineering etc., everything on a satellite except the electronics
  • Good knowledge of the North American space market and solid personal network in the industry, including companies in the New Space business
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent presentation skills
  • Experienced negotiator, with excellent written and verbal English skills (ability to speak German a plus!)
  • Cooperative leadership style, experienced with working in a multi-national environment and in matrix organizations across multiple sites
  • Able to translate customer problems into elegant solutions, then drive the process with our engineering staff to provision clients with a successful answer to their problems
