Responsibilities

The main purpose would be to develop welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys. Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures.

More specifically, you will:

  • Investigate welding related issues to improve product performance and increase productivity in manufacturing
  • Design welding fixtures for welding in serial production, particularly for laser welding
  • Check and approve welding manufacturing drawings
  • Develop repair procedures and assess flaws to determine the fitness-for-service of structures
  • Develop standards, materials, weld joint design, and welding processes
  • Develop welding process procedure qualification, supplier qualification, and product testing
  • Troubleshoot welding problems and provide corrective solutions
  • Provide welding engineering support to Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to fabricate equipment

Profile

Must have:

  • Welding related experience, including welding metallurgy experience, in a construction, fabrication, or repair facility
  • Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to welding engineering assessments and recommendation
  • Proven knowledge and practical experience of common welding processes
  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of welding on various materials.
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and constantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go out of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English. German is highly preferred

Nice to have:

  • Degree in metallurgical/materials engineering, or welding/materials engineering technology, or related topics
  • Completed training as International Welding Engineer
