Project Engineers work within an engineering team and are responsible for delivering on customer requirements in an Integrated Product Team environment. Project Engineers collaborate internally with multi-disciplined teams to launch production of complex structures.

The PE(M) is responsible for developing and managing product and information flow between the IPT and manufacturing in accordance with lean methodology to achieve program and site KPI’s. This role requires strong people leadership and resource management skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on transition to production, best practices, and continuous improvement. The Project Engineer provides day-to-day focus on leading manufacturing and is held accountable for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and develops employees to ensure timely and successful completion of projects and new product introductions in accordance with below responsibilities. Demonstrates core cultural competencies to subordinates. Provides challenging tasks and assignments.
  • Accountable for all operational results (Safety, Quality, and Cost) for the program defined from raw material reception through finished goods shipment.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with program management.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviews bases of estimates from IPT Leads.
  • Accountable for reporting and delivering to all KPI’s which drive the transition to production, ensuring IPT maintains all key KPI data & visual management boards
  • With IPT Leads, develops project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
  • With Master Scheduler, maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Controls project and engineering plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • Maintains safe, clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Interfaces with teams in different parts of the organization, including IT, Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance to foster the integration of data and business processes.

Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business
  • 3 years of experience in a Supervisory or Senior Engineering role
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing, military or engineering, working with KPI’s
  • Must have Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must be a US Citizen. Must comply with ITAR regulations and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GKN Experience
  • Master’s degree
  • Previous responsibility for developing and executing within budgets
  • Previous exposure to product design, verification testing, and customer support.
  • Previous experience in an IPT environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and suppliers
  • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Skills in problem analysis, potential problem analysis, decision analysis and planning.
  • Skilled in coaching, team-building, business measurement, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent written, verbal and collaboration skills
