Under routine supervision, is typically responsible for production operations oversite and improvements to shop operations.  Participate in new program development providing necessary technical and systems support, including new processes and procedures.   Develops and maintains quality standards and plans/procedures to assure company products meet required program/OEM specifications, standards, and systems.

Responsibilities

  •  Provides oversight (Including Audits) for each NDT method to assure all areas, equipment and personnel are compliant to the Quality Management System (QMS), Customer & OEM Specifications, NADCAP, GKN Specifications and other regulatory requirements and specifications. Assist personnel in areas such as interpretation and execution.
  • Supports the engineering project plan to meet requirements and milestones.Identifies NDT requirements by analyzing OEM/Customer manuals, specifications and drawings.
  • Originate, develop, evaluate, approve and implement NDT work instructions and is integral in developing shop planning operation sequencing.
  • Responsible for flow down of NDT quality requirements to the suppliers. Evaluates supplies to ensure that they are approved sources and conform to quality requirements.
  • Assure adequate tooling and equipment are available and that NDT equipment is functioning with required preventive maintenance performed. Facilitate repairs during any breakdown.
  • Reviews and, as required, revises customer OEM submittals of NDT non-conformances and provides technical support to the customer where problems/questions arise. Generate failure investigation reports when required.
  • Discusses quality issues with customers, such as interpretation/clarification of customer/supplier NDT requirements. Plans and coordinates customer/supplier visitations to company.
  • Drive and Participate in corrective action investigations. Implement a follow-up process to verify corrective action is in place and effective.
  • Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree preferred. NDT and QMS related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Certified as an NAS410 or equivalent industry Level 3 in RT, UT, PT & ET is preferred. An industry level 2, in at least three methods, with intention and capability to gain certification as a level 3 in all four methods, will be considered.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements

Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to direct and lead the NDT team in a matrixed organization
  • Administrate NDT certification. Create training and testing materials
  • NADCAP system & process approvals.
  • Complete audit questioners and manage of NDT Audits.
  • Document Control (Customer/OEM Technical publications review and release).
  • Continuous Improvement, failure investigation and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Can generate work instruction and procedures that flow down OEM/Customer & QMS requirements.
  • Understanding of calibration practices required procedures and records.
  • Quality Management Systems ISO09001/AS9100 (AS9110 & FAR145 Preferred).
  • Ability to travel on short term assignments, if and as required to support company needs.
