Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Software Engineer to work at NCIA in Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level operation and maintenance of Routing and Switching Elements managed by the NSII Routing and Switching Cell
  • Advises on fault diagnosis throughout NATO Static and Deployable network environment utilizing a number of management platforms (e.g. HP Network Automation, Netscout, Intermapper, Splunk, CA Spectrum)
  • Ensure that, on Routing and Switching elements throughout NATO sites, routine maintenance is performed
  • Liaise and collaborate internally throughout the NCI Agency Service Line infrastructures and to external organizations for fault rectification activities as required
  • Responsible to assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures within the Routing and Switching Cell
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel the implementation of Routing and Switching elements standardization and best practices
  • Investigate and propose long term solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems
  • Operate and develop provided management tools and capabilities
  • Ensure a common understanding of the available toolsets and method of utilization within the centralized and distributed user base
  • Configuration, and evaluation, of test scenarios within the Reference Facility, pertinent to the area of Routing and Switching and network configuration problem resolution
  • Prepare deployable network assets in accordance with the exercise plan
  • Baseline deployable network assets at the end of an exercise in accordance with the standard configuration set
  • Update baseline configurations as directed
  • Coordinates and performs routing infrastructures configuration and maintenance activities for all NATO exercise scenarios

Profile

  • A diploma from a vocational school in a communications related subject, or an equivalent level of work experience in the field of telecommunications
  • Over 2 years’ experience of CISCO Routing and Switching Elements
  • Proven in-depth experience in LAN and WAN technologies OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, ISIS, GRE tunnels, QoS, VRF, STP, MSTP, RPVST, HSRP, Etherchannel, VSS, LT2P, VLAN, MPLS traffic engineering
  • Working knowledge of operating network authentication and authorization systems and technologies (e.g. Secure ACS 5.x, 802.1x, TACACS+)
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with the configuration and operation of HP Network Automation
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with the configuration and operation of Network Monitoring and Event Management systems ideally Intermapper and Splunk
  • 1 year experience in using Netscout nGenius Performance Manager
  • Over 2 years’ experience of working in a centrally managed network environment
  • Proven experience in the use of an Incident Management System such as BMC Remedy
  • A high level of knowledge of network, system and application level troubleshooting techniques
  • Working knowledge of the Thales IP Crypto TCE 621
  • 2 years’ experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Router network using IP Crypto Thales TCE 621 as transport
  • 1 year experience in a NATO environment
  • Experience in implementing/commissioning network equipment and participate in projects delivering network capabilities
  • Experience with IP Diffserv QoS in Networks
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both Skill, Knowledge & Experience: independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Cisco certification CCIE

 

Desirable Experience and Education:

  • University degree in a field related to the function of the post
  • 2 years’ experience in all aspects of maintenance, repair, and operation of large complex multi-vendor IP communications networks and related equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with commercial IPSEC encryption solutions such as Secure Virtual Tunnels (sVTI), SSLVPN, DMVPN, GETVPN
  • Experience implementing and operating a multi-tenancy network environments (VRFNLAN)
  • Experience with CA Spectrum
  • Understanding of Firewall Technology and Concepts
  • Familiarity with Performance Management principles, metrics and tools (e.g. MRTG, IPSLA)
