A Software Test Engineer is required to join a market leading systems and software development company based in Wincanton. The Software Test Engineer role will see you join a talented and experienced team to aid with ongoing support, enhancement and testing of various company mission-critical and safety-critical projects.

Responsibilities

  •  Produce Test Documentation including Test Plans and Test Reports.
  • Analyse project requirements and agree best verification methods/criteria’s.
  • Identify requirement shortfalls / ambiguities, engage with Technical Lead to resolve.
  • Generate Test Procedures (automated and manual) to verify the requirements.
  • Develop and maintain traceability between requirements and the test steps with the Test Procedures.
  • Identify where efficiencies can be made in test procedures, and optimisations that would enable further automation.
  • Execute Test Procedures (including Regression tests), record test results, fully analyse test failures and raise issues where appropriate.
  • Support peer reviews on Test Procedures.
  • Maintain and improve subject matter expertise including product/software architecture, test environments, builds and test suites via documentation and script improvement.

Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Team player, able to work autonomously on dedicated tasks, but also willing to support others, share ideas and to be supported (as part of an Agile delivery team).
  • Experience of using industry wide test automation tools plus adaptability to write and run manual tests.
  • Experience of test methodologies and knowledge and use of industry standard tools.

 

Preferred but not essential:

  • Experience of real time and embedded software.
  • Experience of testing different messaging protocols including Ethernet, Analogue, Digital and RS422 using messaging tools plus Protocol Analysers preferred.
  • Experience of developing automated tests for PC based software, driven with a User Interface.
  • ISQTB Certification preferred but not essential.  Willingness to be adaptable and to work in a team environment more important.
  • Knowledge of Hardware engineering advantageous.
  • Experience of working on Military Systems (Land, Air or Sea).

 

Other requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
