About this job

The fully established constellation and infrastructure of Galileo consists of 30 satellites distributed over three orbits, approx. 20 sensor stations for monitoring the navigation signals, two satellite control centres – one each in Oberpfaffenhofen (Bavaria, Germany) and in Fucino (Abruzzo, Italy), the GNSS Service Center in Torrejón de Ardoz (Spain), several mission-uplink stations and satellite control transmitting stations. As Service Operator of the Galileo system, Spaceopal GmbH provides high-quality navigation and timing for users worldwide.

Responsibilities

The Product Assurance (PA) Engineer will be involved in the definition, design, engineering and execution of all Product Assurance activities.This includes in particular:

  • Contribution to the planning, implementation and management of Product Assurance/Quality Assurance activities in all Galileo project FOC phases
  • Contribution to surveillance and management of subcontractors with respect to product assurance, quality and safety related matters
  • Contribution to define, develop and ensure delivery of quality and safety concepts and plans for the Galileo FOC phase
  • Involvement on the set-up and management of a non-conformance control program
  • Execution of RAMS tasks including performance review of system level RAMS analysis
  • Processing and contribution to the management of quality documentation (e.g. Non Conformance Reports) using ARTS and NCTS Systems
  • Surveillance and participation to operations preparation and validation activities
  • Supporting Project Management in the Risk Management process
  • Contribution to definition, control and monitoring of (safety) critical items
  • Participation in progress meetings and program reviews
  • Coordination, preparation and moderation of ARBs, CCBs and MRBs
  • Contribution to the coordination of internal and external project quality audits
  • Contribution to a Safety Management plan and manual for Galileo FOC phase
  • Contribution to planning, management and implementation of a software PA program and associated tasks
  • Provide – when requested – Customer interface in quality, product assurance and safety aspects of the project

Profile

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Electronics)
  • Experience in similar activities, better if acquired in Space or Defence programs, or in highly security-sensitive Industrial sectors.
  • Experience in the Galileo program, and especially knowledge of the Galileo-specific accreditation processes and methodology, will be a preferential factor.
  • In addition to that, the following areas of knowledge and experiences will be privileged for the selection of the candidate:
    • Proven and qualified experience in professional Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the satellite operations business
    • Experience in Galileo
    • Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge as well as experience of auditing and subcontractor auditing
    • Good knowledge of ESA-ECSS-Q-series standards and workmanship procedures
    • Good knowledge at system level of Galileo Program and current deployment status and criticalities
    • Experience in managing anomaly reports life cycle using ESA Standards Tools (ARTS, NCTS) and both in chairing and coordinating ARBs and CCBs for Space Programs
    • Experience of Quality Management Systems and Standards
  • The job requires also:
    • Fluent written and spoken English
    • Fluency in Italian and/or German is appreciated even if not mandatory
    • Strong attitude to team work, also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her
    • Fluency in standard office automation tools (word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet, etc.)
