We are hiring a Processing Support Engineer to work on our customer’s site (EUMETSAT).

You would work on the user support and training service, as well as routing Operations performance for the newly established EUMETSAT cloud based online data access services. This would include the Data Store, Data Tailor (stand alone and as Web Service), EUMETView and the Hosted Processing platform – European Weather Cloud (EWC).

Responsibilities

• Support user onboarding to the Hostel processing EWC environment
• Define, set-up and maintain a range of VM environments reflecting user needs in a Cloud Application Management such as Morpheus
• Train tenants on how to use the EWC environment and provide suitable documentation (e.g., user guides, code, scripts & notebooks)
• Support the maintenance of the EO datasets on the systems
• Maintain and update the user service documentation on Confluence, Gitlab and TrainHub
• Provide first level support for EWC/Cloud Infrastructure problems
• Interact closely with 2nd level engineering support for Cloud Infrastructure
• Support tenants in creating cloud-native applications

Profile

• BSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Earth Science / Remote Sensing
• Fluent in English
• Experience with Unix/ Linux OS
• Scripting in Python and Shell
• Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience with OpenStack
• 2+ years’ experience as System Admin
• Experience with Morpheus
• Experience with cloud-native applications
• Experience in Microservices (Kubernetes, etc)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Remote Sensing data visualisation (Image Processing Systems or GIS)
• Working with EO data, metadata, large sizes and formats (NetCDF, GEOTIFF)
