The Configuration and Documentation Management (CADM) tasks at Spaceopal comprise a wide range of disciplines, all aiming for the sustainment of the Galileo service provision. Configuration Management Processes are to be managed and the underlying configuration data are to be maintained.

The position CADM Engineer (License Management) is embedded in the Spacopal CADM team and reports to the GSOp ILS/CADM Manager. The role is two folded; one focus will be the proper management of the software licences needed to provide the Galileo services and the second part is dealing with the overall configuration status accounting and documentation maintenance tasks shared within the Spaceopal CADM team.

 

Responsibilities

With regard to the Licence Management tasks, software licence data have to be collected, maintained and processed by the CADM Engineer (License Management). The status of licenses is monitored and where needed procurement tasks are coordinated with the Spaceopal contracts office. This includes in particular:

  • Collecting licence information from Segment/Product manufacturer provided documentation
  • Translating the licence maintenance needs into a preventive maintenance plan based on the inventory/deployed assets
  • Coordinating with ILS Support Desk the in time upload/update into the Service Desk Tools/CMAT tool from which individual maintenance tickets are created
  • Maintaining the licence budget files at SPO Level (i.e. what licences, how many, where installed etc.) supported by centralised tools (CMAT)
  • Identifying potential risks and shortcomings related to the licence file deployments and needed follow-up tasks to avoid any problems due to unavailable licences
  • Managing escalations to SPO subcontractors related to overdue preventive maintenance tasks
  • Identifying and triggering and supporting necessary licence procurement needs via SPO procurement department and maintaining status information in centralised tools
  • Providing reporting to SPO and GSA management via centralised tools (i.e. monthly/ quarterly reporting inputs)
  • Participating to meetings and reviews related to licence management (GSOp internal and external with GSA/ESA/Segments)
  • Ensuring correct recording and reporting of licence maintenance tasks and status via the centralised tools by means of regular follow-up and reviews
  • Liaising with L2/L3 Maintenance team on licence data/needs as preparatory tasks in the frame of new Ground Infrastructure Releases

The above tasks and related work load is usually determined by the changes to be implemented at a certain point in time. The remaining time is dedicated to the Spaceopal CADM tasks, ranging from:

  • Maintenance of configuration accounting status relevant data in centralised tools and managing follow-up tasks, e.g. via subcontractors
  • Follow-up of documentation status and deliveries, updating respective data in centralised tools
  • Supporting configuration audits, reviews and reporting tasks (internal and external)
  • Supporting configuration control tasks (processing of change requests via configuration control boards)
  • Ensuring consistency of configuration / asset records and status within centralized tool/database
  • Quality checks on configuration / asset records maintained in centralised tools (HW, SW, Licences etc.)

 

 

Profile

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Administration)
  • Experience or at least a very good understanding of software licence management, from licence need analysis, implementation and maintenance perspective
  • Good understanding of licence terms and conditions and related impacts
  • Good understanding of software licence implementations in data centres (e.g. how to maintain licences on servers, workstations etc.)
  • Experience in Configuration Management disciplines and underlying data/information handling (Structures, Baseline Management etc.)
  • Experiences related to standardisation and quality reviews/audits
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Strong attitude to team work, also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her
  • Well organised and accurate in maintaining necessary information/data for related shareholders in this process
