The Emerging Technologies team focus on the development and exploitation of new capabilities and concepts which will empower the UK Space Sector. We are looking for an Intern for 9 months to support our diverse and exciting projects which are at the cutting-edge of world class innovation. With scope across the space sector, covering ground segment, launch vehicles, spaceports, satellite constellations, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and on-orbit manufacturing.

This role will give you an insight into the cutting edge of New Space industry within the UK, engaging with organisations of differing sizes and maturity, from launch vehicles to orbital manufacturing. The role is predominantly focused on business development and analytics, rather than a technical bias.

Responsibilities

Typical day-to-day activities will include:

  • Representation & engagement with space organisations and commercial companies.
  • Collation, reporting and analysis of opportunities to engage and exploit using the Catapult CRM system.
  • Development of presentations and analytical charts to illustrate growth in the space sector.
  • Support where necessary for bespoke analysis tasks for bids, projects, or external customers.
  • Participation in strategy/commercialisation workshops with start-up companies.
  • Supporting events both physical and virtual.
  • Visiting space facilities and sites to support stakeholder engagement – a valid driving licence is required.

Profile

Skills & Experience required:

  • 2nd year student looking for industrial placement in the space sector
  • You should have received or have an expected degree of at least 2:1 or higher
  • An interest in learning more about the UK commercial and emerging space sector and integrating it with your future career plans
  • Competency in creation and management of Microsoft Office software tools, including Excel and Word.
  • Taking or have a degree in a business, management or analytical subject or engineering but with a combined business/management subject.
  • An aptitude for research, collation, and presentation of findings
  • Public speaking, presentation, or publication of formal or informal work and activities
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Proximity to Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire within an hour travel
  • Freedom to travel both nationally and internationally
