About this job

You will be part of a team responsible for the management and operation of existing geostationary secure communications satellites owned by the UK government. The Frequency Co-ordination Engineer will be responsible for preparing the consortium in transitioning the SATCOM services prior to the commencement of the operational phase of the programme. The successful candidate will work closely with other teams in the “Mobilisation” phase of the contract, particularly: payload experts from the parallel Space Operations team, the Partner team responsible for IT systems and software support and the Partner responsible for the Service Operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse current working processes of the incumbent service provider
  • Analyse customer changes in the requirements that have emerged since the bid phase
  • Perform due diligence on the existing equipment and systems to ensure they meet the customer requirements
  • Generate new documentation for processes and procedures based on the new contract requirements and the results of the analysis of current processes
  • Ensure critical working data and tools transition to the new IT operating environment on schedule
  • Ensure all transmission licenses and frequency coordination agreements are transitioned to the new contractual arrangements
  • Preparation of Assurance Case reports to support overall system assurance prior to operational commencement
  • Shadowing / auditing the incumbent and recording any anomalies with existing process / procedure
  • Supports the Programme Team with ensuring the Mobilisation targets are met, in accordance with the programmes schedule and agreed set of deliverables
  • To be responsible for health, safety and security of the project team in accordance with Inmarsat policies.
  • To be aware of and comply with Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements
  • To carry out any other reasonable management request.

Profile

  • 5-10 years’ experience in satellite capacity management and or satellite frequency coordination role
  • University degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant experience in an operations environment including knowledge of spectrum monitoring equipment
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business both internally and externally with Customers
  • Excellent analytical skills resulting in clear and concise explanations of observations, problems or anomalies
  • Collaborative mind-set and strong interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Must be able to achieve SC Clearance
  • Must be a UK national
