ESA is looking for a Galileo System Security Engineer.

Responsibilities

You will report to the Head of Unit and work in a matrix organisation with functional reporting to the Head of Ground Mission Segment and Security Segment Management Service. Your main tasks and responsibilities will be to work as Technical officer for the security key management facilities of the Ground Mission Segment. This will include:
• Maintaining the general security requirements and the requirements of the key management functions at System and Segment level as well as the associated Interface Control Documents;
• Maintaining the key management functions within the System design definition file (logical and physical), participating in segment and element design reviews to ensure proper design of the key management facilities in line with system expectations;
• Following up the development and qualification of the segment and element key management facilities, including participating in the corresponding segment and element level reviews, qualification campaigns (reviewing the segment and element test plans, closely following up segment and element tests with respect to the general security and key management functions, test witnessing and qualification credit reviews);
• Ensuring that the key management functions are also qualified at system level, by supporting system integration and verification activities, helping in the definition of system testing with respect to key management and following up system tests (test witnessing, and participation in TRRs, TRBs);
• Following-up System and Segment Anomalies related to general security and key management, including interaction with industry (in full coordination with Segment procurement manager) to provide updates, maintenance releases or workarounds;
• Contributing to the design and development of new system security facilities for Galileo supporting its services evolution (e.g. for Commercial Authentication Services).

Profile

Technical competencies

• Design, development, deployment and testing of complex secure systems;
• Knowledge Satellite navigation principles and related security architectures;
• Background and substantial experience (5 years minimum) in the technical domains covered by the position;
• Experience in the definition and in the implementation of Ground Segment projects;
• Galileo system and ground segment architecture;
• Security engineering and associated disciplines, in particular communications and network security.

Education

A Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other scientific disciplines is required.

Additional requirements
Knowledge of ISO 27001 standard and protection against cyber security threats will be an asset.
