ESA is looking for an IT Security Engineer.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Section, you will identify, assess and manage security risk across ESA IT networks, systems and applications. You will contribute to the implementation of IT systems, guiding and assisting system or application developers and service providers to apply security by design principles and acting as an ambassador for IT security at ESA.

You will:
• Actively support IT projects and services in addressing security best practices and offering secure solutions;
• Understand, develop and apply ESA IT security risk management practices to projects and services such that compliance with the ESA Security Directives can be certified;
• Contribute to the evolution of the IT Department’s ISMS with a strong emphasis on a systematic, documented, yet pragmatic approach that helps the Department achieve its goals;
• Contribute to the development of the IT Department’s security services portfolio and strategy;
• Help to establish a common approach to cyber security within ESA;
• Establish and maintain contacts with the security industry and partner organisations, helping to keep the IT Department up to date on cyber security trends and technologies.

You are expected to support activities in the areas of information security management in accordance with ISO 27001, cyber defence management, Dev(Sec)Ops and security control implementation, performing IT security roles, as necessary, in accordance with the Agency’s Security Directives.

You will act as project leader for IT security projects, as required, and will be expected to undertake any other duties required in fulfilment of the IT Department’s mission.

Technical competencies

• Cyber security (policy, detection, reaction, correction);
• IT Security engineering;
• Security risk assessment;
• IT architecture design;
• Project and technical management.

Education

You should have a Master’s degree in information/communication technology.

Additional requirements

You must have several years of in-depth experience in information security, IT infrastructure, networks, communications and application security and project management. Industry certification or specialisation (e.g. CISSP) will be an asset. Understanding the practical use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the cyber security domain will be appreciated.

You should be eligible for obtaining Personnel Security Clearance from your National Security Authority.
