Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. The awarded European Commission (EC) contract to Spaceopal is more than just its satellites in space. Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.


The Purchase Officer position is located within the Procurement & Sales department of Spaceopal and is directly subordinated to the Procurement & Sales Director.

The scope of purchases includes all kind of demands for the company. It mainly focuses on the areas of IT, Infrastructure, General Services and miscellaneous.

Main tasks:

  • Capturing the generic purchasing demands and prepare purchase requests for management approval
  • Identifying suitable suppliers
  • Issue Requests for Proposal, Requests for Quotation, Requests for Information in relation to the purchase requests
  • Collecting and negotiating offers
  • Preparing and documenting proposal evaluation, budget checks and award recommendations for the Management
  • Sharing relevant information to all involved stakeholders (e.g. Accounting, IT, Security)
  • Follow up deliveries and implementation of purchase orders including payment processes
  • Continuous monitoring and managing the recurring service contracts
  • Setting up, managing and maintaining the vendor master data
  • Setting up of frame contracts with vendors
  • Proposing and implementing improvements of purchasing processes in coordination with QMS (Quality Management)
  • Creation of templates and instructions about the purchasing process
  • Archiving all purchasing tasks digitally and physically
  • Contact person for infrastructure relevant tasks


  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business Administration, Finance), appropriate high school degree or relevant work experience
  • Experience in similar activities, in particular in an international environment
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German
  • Fluency in Italian is appreciated even if not mandatory
  • Strong attitude to team work, also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her,
  • Great communicator internally and externally, even in demanding situations
  • Hands-on mentality and systematic, self-organized, able to prioritize way of working
