Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Virtualisation Technician to work at NATO NCIA in Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

Under guidance of Service Delivery Manager INF004 (Infrastructure Services) but largely on own initiative, incumbent will perform duties such as:­

  • Works on own initiative with limited supervision, may lead others as required
  • Plans, manages, coordinates and conducts work to meet quality targets
  • Maintains and improves sound knowledge on implemented and new pertinent technologies
  • Analyses technical issues, plans, designs, requirements and associated risks, and takes appropriate actions on technical solutions to include advise to supervisors and actual implementation
  • Takes initiative to investigate and resolves issues in a systematic approach;
  • Creates, installs, operates, maintains and supports server software images, both for Operating Systems and assigned applications, and stays abreast of latest developments in these areas
  • Analyses and resolves assigned level 3 incident and problem tickets
  • Supports IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM), Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Maintains liaison with other CSU internal units, Service Lines and other external technical organisations
  • Operates assigned IaaS systems and resolves alerts and error conditions
  • Documents configuration of assigned IaaS equipment and related operating procedures as well as execution of latter­
  • Implements procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing performance of assigned IaaS systems and provides reports as required
  • Monitors and reports on the capacity of the assigned IaaS systems
  • Assists with and implements assigned project work packages
  • Assists in developing new architectures as Subject Matter Expert in its assigned area of responsibility
  • Responsible for teaching and growing the larger knowledge of the Service Area in general
  • Responsible for the management and operation of Virtual Infrastructure across multiple networks and frameworks/versions of software to include VMware, HyperV, networking systems and applications, SAN, blade environments and other integrated hardware/software
  • May be asked to serve as Deputy SDM­ Performs any other duty as assigned

Profile

  • REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE: NATO Cosmic Top Secret
  • University degree in Computer Science or Information Engineering or related fields
  • 5+ years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to function of post
  • 3+ years of experience teaching/mentoring a team
  • Current indepth knowledge and practical work experience of Microsoft Windows operating systems (latest versions) in large scale LAN-based client-server environment using Active Directory Services
  • Current knowledge and recent practical experience of mainstream hypervisors
  • 5+ years practical experience as System Administrator of Virtual Infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Server side scripting (Microsoft PowerShell and Linux bash shell)
  • Sound knowledge of issues and techniques of information processing and web services
  • Experience with data management and storage facilities, including practical analytical experience of IT servers and system architecture implementations
  • Good awareness of access security and know how to implement security policies, with good understanding and knowledge of systems usability
  • Recent experience with server clustering technology, storage systems and backup systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Desirable Experience and Education:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years experience as a team lead or team manager
  • Practical experience as Systems or Virtual Infrastructure Administrator in an international environment
  • Practical experience in deploying/using/optimising mainstream Service Management Tools (e.g. SCOM and Oracle Enterprise Manager)
  • Prior experience of working in international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT
  • Sound experience in installation, tuning and monitoring of clustered Operating Systems (like Solaris, Windows…) and network shared file systems
  • Knowledge of VMWare suite of enterprise products and support
  • 8+ years experience with virtualization infrastructures. VMWare certification desired
  • Knowledge of storage systems such as NetApp and HP 3PAR
  • Microsoft Server certifications
  • Has previous experience in NATO
  • Has 2+ years experience leading teams of 5+ people
