Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Applications Support to work at NATO NCIA in Northwood, UK.

Responsibilities

• Assists Functional Services & Database Management (FSDM) section head with System Administration (SA) of MS SQL Servers, Deployable BI-SC Kits and other assigned Databases and Functional Services as directed
• Assists FSDM section head with problem analysis and solution testing beyond technical abilities of other technicians. Coordinates with colleagues in development of troubleshooting SOPs for all Databases and Functional Services assigned
• Assists FSDM section head in relation to SNF Flagships for installation of BI-SC kits, as directed
• Assists FSDM section head in handling Centralised Service Desk requests for assistance and takes appropriate actions to support Incident Management Process, to include giving guidance and assisting personnel on remotely accessed services as assigned
• Assists FSDM section head with coordination to develop Release Management plan for assigned services, to include rollout and rollback plans
• Maintains contact with supported HQs Functional Services technicians & managers, ensuring supported Functional Services are providing desired service in a timely, reliable and responsive manner
• Supports Change Management Process by proposing solutions to FSDM section head for functional requirements that cannot be met with standard set of Functional Services listed under AFPL
• Maintains a close liaison with other technicians and engineers in CSU as well as technicians and engineers in other NCIA locations and other NATO Agencies

Profile

• Required Security Clearance: NATO Cosmic Top Secret
• Vocational training at higher level in relevant discipline, leading to professional qualification or;
• Equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
• Higher educational qualification but less practical experience or less formal educational background combined with particularly relevant practical experience may also be acceptable;
• A minimum of 8 years relevant experience
• System software specialist, technical expertise in installation and maintenance of system software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products and other utility software
• Specialist knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles and detailed knowledge of database architectures, software and facilities.
• Database administration of MS SQL Server
• Systems Administration in Windows or Unix Environment including scripting in both UNIX and Windows PowerShell
• Broad and in-depth technical knowledge of IT Systems

Desirable Experience and Education:

• Experience of ITIL framework of Service Management
• Project management experience
• System Analysis methodologies experience
• ITIL Foundation and Practitioner Certificate
• MCDBA Certificate
• Member of recognized professional body or institution
• Prior experience of working in international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
• Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT
