Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Principal Technician (Database and Training Systems) to work at NATO NCIA in Oeiras, Portugal

Responsibilities

Principal Technician (Database and Training Systems), under technical coordination and lead from CSU Lisbon / Service Operations Branch / Application s Section, will perform CIS related activities in support to NCI Academy. He / She will:

  • Provide system management and operational support for all IT virtualized systems assigned to Academy training environment
  • Support effective provisioning, installation / configuration and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure, mainly for NCI Academy
  • Supports Software Defined Datacenter connectivity requirements as part of process implemented for delivery of training environments from training infrastructure
  • Supports implementation of processes, procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing performance of Training systems and services in support of agreed service levels
  • Maintains backups of training systems using CSU Lisbon infrastructure, established processes and policies as defined by OLA
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge at system and sub-system level of CIS infrastructure of NCI Academy with emphasis on system architecture, integration, security, build and verification aspects;
  • Contribute towards final implementation of Academy active network and ensure alignment with building’s passive network infrastructure and CIS assets, in order to ensure consolidated and resilient IT infrastructure
  • Support implementation of Academy’s CIS configuration management
  • Performs other IT related duties as may be required

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Demonstrate general up-to-date knowledge of operating systems, computer system Hardware and architectures, client/server and Networking
  • Demonstrate general up-to-date knowledge on LAN management, configuration and troubleshooting
  • General background knowledge in cybersecurity (architecture and operations)
  • Demonstrate recent experience in implementation, troubleshooting, support and maintenance of Software defined Datacenters
  • Have training in recent versions of VMWare vSphere and/or VMWare NSX
  • Demonstrate general background in engineering and maintenance of communications and information systems
  • Have experience as staff member in an information technology (IT) appointment with provision of customer support
  • Be certified (Industry recognized certifications) in at least one of following areas: Windows systems, Virtualization, Networking
  • Experience in structured and workflow-driven service provision organization

Desirable Education and Experience:

  • College degree in Computer Sciences or similar
  • Training on VMWare vRealize Automation
  • Certifications in any of following areas: Datacenter Virtualization; Network Virtualization; Systems Administration (Windows); Networking technologies (Switching and Routing)
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian staff
  • Good communications skills
  • References in working in teams
