Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a LAN Technician to work at NATO NCIA in Stavanger, Norway.

Responsibilities

  • Level 1&2 technical support to local LAN /WAN services, including infrastructure networking service, hardware and software
  • Upgrade and maintenance of switches, Wi-Fi and other network related equipment
  • Coordinates repair/exchange of faulty network equipment
  • Contributes to day-to-day operation of local routing, switching, telephony and wireless infrastructure
  • Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software
  • Takes action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client
  • Troubleshooting of failures/problems/incidents within IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Escalates Incidents to next tier support
  • Liaises with higher tier support for projects, maintenance and procedures
  • Provides input to preventative maintenance plans
  • Implementation of agreed network changes and maintenance routines including building and management of systems and components in virtualised computing environments
  • Maintenance of the iPatch database and cabling- Troubleshooting of failures/problems/incidents within IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Decommissioning of End-of-Service Life (EoSL) network equipment

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Advanced knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN) / Wide Area Networks (WAN) technologies, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet protocol (IP) and standards
  • Knowledge of implementing and operating LAN technologies (e.g. HSRP, STP, Switching, VLANs, VPC ,VDC, DHCP snooping, ARP Inspection, Port-Security, VRF)
  • High level of knowledge of network, system and application level troubleshooting techniques.
  • Related field experience in operation, administration and maintenance of digital and IP based telecommunication and transmission systems
  • Working understanding of Microsoft (MS) server and client technologies (VDI infrastructure, VMware vSphere)
  • Working knowledge and experience of MS Visio program
  • High level of knowledge of network, system and application level troubleshooting techniques, including wireless, NX-OS and IOS -XE
  • Extensive knowledge of operating network authentication and authorization systems and technologies (802.1x)
  • Knowledge of MS NPS (Network Policy Server) authentication methods (MAB, RADIUS)
  • Working knowledge and experience with CommScope iPatch system.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco
  • Identity Service Engine (ISE)
