Sapienza Consulting is recruiting an Operational Analysis Support to join NATO – NCIA, at The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands.

The main role for this junior contractor position is to conduct a range of Operational Analysis (OA) related tasks, particularly in support of the Defence Planning (DP) project, under the direction and supervision of OA SL analysts.

Responsibilities

Specific Working Conditions: This work is to be carried out in The Hague (NLD) with the majority of the work being carried out on NATO Secret systems. There may be a need to telework during the pandemic using REACH laptops (provided by NCIA) but this will remain from the duty location to allow for timely access to the office when needed.

This work may also involve occasional short business trips to Mons (BEL) and/or Brussels (BEL) to support OA staff (usually a day trip but occasionally this could be up to 3 days).

  • NS clearance must be available on start date.

Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret

The main role for this junior contractor position is to conduct a range of Operational Analysis (OA) related tasks, particularly in support of the Defence Planning (DP) project, under the direction and supervision of OA SL analysts.

More specifically this will entail:

  • Conducting DP-related analysis using a variety of analytical supporting tools.
  • Producing, under time pressure, accurate (i.e. verified, validated and consistent) data sets using MS Office tools at an expert level.
  • Applying a range of OA tools to support analyses such as MS Excel (spreadsheet analysis), conducting some VBA coding and macros development as required, and potentially some use of GIS, simulation, data analysis and statistical software.
  • Carrying out data collection, collation and analysis using a range of tools (predominantly MS Excel and MS Access).
  • Summarising results to be presented in MS PowerPoint presentations and MS Word documents.
  • Supporting OA SL staff in the development and update of documentation/reports.

Profile

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Recent experience in applying Operations Research techniques for the analysis of military problems, preferably supporting the military developing force planning requirements
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office suite, in particular MS Excel and the use of VBA
  • Ability to develop and apply simple programs in NCIA OA tools to support analysis
  • Ability to undertake detailed review and analysis of large data sets using commercial and in-house tools (such as MS Excel, MS Access and other data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment providing fit-for-purpose, rapid analysis under the direction of OA SL staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge and ability to develop models and tools using MS Access
  • Working knowledge in at least one of the military components/domains such as aerospace, land, maritime and enabling/logistics
  • Previous experience of supporting studies related to the analysis of requirements for Air surveillance and Air Command and Control capabilities
  • Knowledge of stockpile planning, in particular experience in determining munition requirements for a range of capabilities
  • Knowledge and ability to create and manipulate SQL databases
  • Previous experience working on the Defence Planning either nationally or for NATO
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU
