Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Principal Technician to join NATO – NCIA at Ramstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Responsibilities

Under the direction of Branch head and identified Line Manager, the incumbent will perform duties such as the following:

  • Responsible for the System Administration (SA) of Database Servers (DS) and Functional Services (FAS) supporting the Air Command
  • Provides technical expertise and continuity for AirC2IS, JCHAT and other FAS across the HQ AC Ramstein
  • Responsible for problem analysis and solution testing beyond the technical abilities of subordinated technicians
  • Leads subordinates in the development of troubleshooting SOPs and SOIs for all DS and FAS
  • Maintains contact with supported HQs FAS Managers ensuring supported FAS are providing the desired service in a timely, reliable and responsive manner
  • Prepares and proposes plans for the upgrade and maintenance of FAS related software
  • Maintains liaison with other CSU internal units, Service Lines and other technical organizations
  • Documents the design and configuration of assigned applications and required operating procedures
  • Provide support to AIRCOM missions and exercises which may operate 24/7 or on-call
  • Assists with, and implements, assigned project work packages
  • May be required to perform duties elsewhere within the organization as directed
  • React and respond to all CSU Recall requests in a prompt and timely manner, acting immediately on any instruction received from the recall co-ordinator
  • Deputize for higher grade staff, if required
  • Performs other duties as may be required

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience
  • Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience
  • Experience within the area of Systems Administration of complex computer systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of various operating systems (Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Solaris)
  • Advanced knowledge of various database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle database)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Power Shell scripting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Basic knowledge of DNS/DHCP
  • Basic knowledge of AirC2 systems
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL
  • Desirable experience and education:
  • Basic Knowledge of DB design
  • Basic Knowledge of VDI environments
  • Basic Knowledge of basic networking
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT, with a focus on NATO Air operations
