Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company, is recruiting an IDATS Senior Software Developer to join NATO – NCIA in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands (Remote).

Responsibilities

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) located in The Hague, The Netherlands, is currently involved in the development of new capabilities for NATO as well as in the support of existing capabilities. In the light of these activities, the C2 Service Centre is looking for experienced senior software developers.

Under the direction / guidance of the NCIA Point of Contact or delegated staff, the software developer will develop and update software modules and provide support to other developers. This includes the following activities:

  • Develop / update Java software modules
  • Develop / conduct unit and automated testing of software components
  • Attend virtual and in-person meetings

The contractor will be part of a team and will work using an Agile and iterative approach during multiple sprints. Each sprint is planned for a duration of 1 week. The content and scope of each sprint will be agreed during the sprint-planning meeting.

Profile

The consultancy support for this work requires a software developer with the following qualifications:

  • The candidate must have a NATO SECRET security clearance
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in software development using Java
  • The candidate has a strong track record in software development and has strong problem solving skills
  • The candidate has extensive and recent experience in programming at the network interface level (UDP, TCP) and serial interface level
  • The candidate has experience with developing and troubleshooting near real time systems development
  • The candidate has experience with and deep knowledge of electrical and data specifications for communication between marine electronics, such as NMEA and EMM
  • The candidate has experience with and deep knowledge of message specifications for data links between combat management systems and external systems, specifically ANEP82
  • The candidate has practical understanding of the operations of maritime systems such as GPS, INS, Radar, Sonar and, Towed Array
  • The candidate has strong mathematical skills as the work includes implementation and verification of complex calculations
  • The candidate has considerable experience with and knowledge of NoSQL databases, MongoDB in particular and also has experience with Morphia for integrating MongoDB in Spring based applications
  • The candidate has experience with designing web services, as well as implementing web services using Apache CXF in combination with the Spring framework
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in continuous software integration and automated testing, including knowledge of test automation frameworks
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in using development tools (e.g. Maven, Jira, GitLab, Zephyr) and the Scrum methodology
  • The candidate has strong customer relationship skills, including negotiating complex and sensitive situations under pressure
  • The candidate is willing to work in challenging environments, including within confined spaces on board active warships and submarines
  • The candidate is able to speak and write fluent English since the work is conducted in English
  • The candidate must have the nationality of one of the NATO nations
