Sapienza Consulting is recruiting an NHQ Linux Systems Engineer to join NATO – NCIA in Brussels, Belgium.

Responsibilities

The main objectives of this statement of work can be summarized as follow:

  • Update existing Linux SOP documents and create new ones as necessary
  • Timely update of the Linux systems when security updates are released
  • Fulfil the requests for provisioning new Linux systems and resolve the incidents reported

Scope of work

CSU Brussel has a requirement for subject matter experts to be embedded with a team of NCI Agency staff in support of the SLA for running NHQ ICT environment.

The consultant(s) will work on-site and regularly coordinate their efforts with the team. The expertise is focused on operating and maintaining the Linux systems, developing procedures for the operation and maintenance tasks, monitoring of the Linux environment and taking preventive actions, responding to the incidents and requests related to the Linux systems, performing root cause analysis, giving advice for improvement of the services. In addition, work will be required to use Puppet management tool to automate various tasks on Linux systems, and operate and maintain Puppet management tool.

Task Context:

  • Monthly patching of Linux systems.
  • Daily monitoring of the Linux systems.
  • Upgrading the Linux operating systems when new versions are available.
  • Communicating and coordination of work with the stakeholders.
  • Following the relevant ITIL processes while performing the work, Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, etc.
  • Updating standard operating procedures and newly created standard operating procedures.
  • Providing L2 support for the incidents and providing an incident report after the resolution.
  • Fulfilling the requests and resolving the incidents that are assigned to the Linux group in NHQ ITSM ticketing system.
  • Provisioning of new Linux servers, installation and configuration of requested applications that will be running on Linux systems in support of projects.
  • Producing weekly capacity and performance report on the Linux systems.

Profile

  • The candidate has a NATO SECRET security clearance, provided by the national security organization valid at the time of submission of the bid covering the period of the requirement
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in Linux systems, particularly Red Hat Linux systems administration
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in using Puppet Linux management tool
  • The candidate has excellent troubleshooting skills
  • The candidate is able to produce and edit technical documentation
  • The candidate is able to speak and write fluent English since the work is conducted in English
  • The candidate must have the nationality of one of the NATO nations
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in configuring and using Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager to monitor Linux systems
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience in Oracle Linux systems administration
