Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a System Engineer to join NATO – NCIA, at Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Design the computing, network and storage infrastructure for small network
  • Install and configure hardware components of the computing infrastructure – servers, storage and backup
  • Configure the storage system (SAN and storage devices) according the stakeholders requirements and NATO security guidelines
  • Deploy secure virtual server infrastructure based on the VMware product portfolio
  • Follow the NATO security guidelines and commercial best practices for the configuration, including roles and permission design based on the NATO delegation model
  • Design and implement VMs provisioning of Microsoft Windows Servers systems using templates
  • Produce high quality documentation for design and/or deployed systems, including configuration description, physical and logical layouts, rack diagrams, connectivity matrixes. When applicable export or backup configuration to the external media
  • Follow security principals and best practices for systems design and deployment, including password management firmware and software updating, etc. Design and implement special permissions for Power Users based on the existing delegation model
  • Be ready to act independently and to take decisions based on the provided system requirements. Evaluate available design documents and propose new solutions if needed
  • Adhere to NCI Agency guidance and directives, and more generally NATO Standards
  • Any other duties as mandated by the project manager rights

Profile

  • A university master’s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or experience equivalent to a Master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in implementing CIS systems (with duties including the ones mentioned above)
  • Proficient with and working knowledge of server hardware/software, deployed in data centres – Demonstrated experience in design and management of virtualization platform, in particular VMware vSphere platform
  • Experience with automated provisioning of guest Windows OS on virtualization platform – Demonstrated experience in design and managed of SAN storage
  • Flexibility to work outside normal duty hours as and when required
  • Knowledge and experience in state-of-the-art technologies, relevant to the work
  • Able to operate under time pressure and able to multitask continuously
  • Ability to independently produce technical documentation in English, related to area of expertise
  • Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders (including customers)
  • Experience of working in an (international) environment, comprising both military and civilian staff
  • Able to learn new procedures and terminology quickly Desirable Experience and education
  • VMware VCP Data Center Virtualization certification (at least version 6)
  • HPE ATP Server Solutions certificate – valid CISSP certification
  • Previous experience in NCIA
  • Must hold NATO Cosmic Top Security Clearance
  • Fluent business English; knowledge of another NATO member-state language is an asset
