Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Infrastructure Hosting Engineer to join NATO – NCIA, at Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Full lifecycle server infrastructure: architecture, design, administration, implementation and support including CPU, memory, disk utilizations / capacity planning and adjusting new requirements as well as monitor and audit system utilization, and performance with focus on VMware virtualization
  • Leads enterprise base work initiatives and projects
  • Develops enhanced production monitoring and additional capability
  • Defines improvements increased system reliability and performance
  • Acts as technical liaison between operations teams, engineers and architects, providing critical operational insight to upcoming implementations and strategies, including validation of ongoing solutions supportability
  • Participates in short and long term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups
  • Develops cost/time estimates
  • Documents discussion and agreements
  • Works with project managers to coordinate and plan project tasks and resources
  • Participates in business requirements meetings as needed
  • Communicates events to stakeholders, IT teams, and leadership
  • Produces work related documentation and diagrams ensuring that they are maintained periodically within their lifecycle
  • Provides technical guidance, coaching/mentoring to team members
  • Participate/perform in root cause analysis for significant problems and suggests clear recommendations for improvements
  • Coordinates problem resolution among variety of functional areas and provides subject matter expertise support for diagnosing and resolving problems
  • Develops scripted solutions and automation
  • Coordinates changes across multiple systems
  • Schedule, coordinate and lead planned downtimes
  • Accurately update comments and status to tickets via ticketing system
  • Participate in on-call activities
  • May need to travel to other NCIA units in other countries, service-affecting activities and contingency work outside of regular business hours

Profile

  • Master Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and four (5) years experience; or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and six (6) years experience; or Major Certification (VMware VCAP) and seven (7) year experience; or no degree/certification and eleven (11) years experience.
  • Prior Systems Engineering Experience is Required
  • Strong Hands-on experience VMware
  • Hands-on experience with data center management including virtualization, blade and rack mount servers
  • Strong Experience with PowerCLI
  • Experience with SRM, Log Insight (or Splunk), vROPs and VVOL
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, Windows Server and Linux and SAN
  • Able to document current design & configuration and to develop/maintain Standard Operation Procedures/Instructions and training guidance
  • VMware Advanced Professional Certification on VMware
  • vSphere Design Workshop (VCAP) and/or VMware Horizon:
  • Design&Deploy (VCAP-DTM)
  • ITIL Service Operation knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication and skills
  • Must hold NATO Cosmic Top Security Clearance
  • Fluent business English; knowledge of another NATO member-state language is an asset
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE HOSTING ENGINEER

  • Experience with Ansible and understanding it’s integration with vRealize
  • Experience with Service Now and integration with VMWare product suite
  • DevOps experience
  • Scripting (Python, Power-Shell, etc.) for Automation or collect data/event from hosts
  • BMC/ITSM Ticketing system
  • ITIL certification
