Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a SATCOM Operations Support Engineer to join NATO – NCIA, at Mons, Belgium

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the engineering necessary for sustaining operations and maintenance of assigned CIS and associated networks to include network management and control systems and supporting systems throughout their in-service life
  • Contributes to the planning of interfaces/gateways to SATCOM operating in tactical communications networks and their interoperability
  • Contributes to planning of SATCOM networking in support of changing operational requirements, exercises and crisis management
  • Contributes to studies on depot support rationalization, and rationalization of resources in support of SATCOM systems
  • Manages system and network configurations where applicable
  • Carries out incident and trend analysis and engineering change proposals as necessary, together with fault management
  • Assessment of manpower and O&M budget requirements
  • Issuing the necessary operating and maintenance instructions and procedures
  • Provides technical expertise in screening of CEP for SATCOM and SATCOM-related projects
  • Works in close coordination with system managers for system (network) management
  • Participates in the technical portion of inspections and JFAI as new systems arrive and conducts follow-up actions on the clearance of deficiencies

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • University Degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline with 4 years post related experience, or a Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related and 2 years function related experience
  • Antenna sub-system including: Radome, feed horn, reflector, pedestal, waveguides, tracking receiver, servo and drive equipment
  • Transmit and receive chains including up and down converters, Low Noise Amplifiers, High Power Amplifiers
  • MODEMs, Electronic Protected Modems (EPMs), Bandwidth Management Equipment (BME), cryptographic equipment, routers, switches
  • Computer-assisted Monitor and Control System (M&CS)
  • GPS-disciplined Frequency Reference Standards and associated distribution systems
  • AC Power distribution equipment, emergency AC Power generation and associated fuel storage, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems
  • Digital-Line-of-Sight (DLOS), Fibre Optical cables and other tails systems
  • Digital techniques, TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices
  • Servo-mechanisms
  • Emergency power generating systems
  • The implementation, fielding, and maintenance of modern communications equipment
  • On-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission systems
  • Familiarity with related international / commercial / industrial standards
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and diplomacy, and in writing with good briefing skills
  • Proven ability to manage small projects
