About this job

As Technical Author, incumbent will be responsible for creating technical documents, manuals, procedures, technical specifications, and process documentation, explaining complex information in clear and concise manner. Working with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Service Staff, Technical Author will be responsible also to ensure accuracy of NCSC technical documentation and in support of other transition functions. Duties will include following and implementing Agency guidelines and templates.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with NCSC O&M staff and Transition team to understand Cyber Security documentation needs and requirements
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts inside NCSC to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
  • Work with NCSC O&M and Transition team to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine, together with Change and Configuration Manager, best solution for data compilation and centralized storage
  • Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and security standards, and allow for easy data migration
  • Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation

Profile

  • Essential to have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science combined with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as Technical Author or similar position, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational education (loading to professional qualification or professional accreditation) with 5 years post related experience
  • 2 years of proven industry experience as an effective technical writer, in IT environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience using XML tools to create documentation
  • Experience working with engineering teams to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, with the ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles and successfully articulate complex issues to a variety of audiences and teams
  • Must hold NATO Security Clearance
  • Fluent business English; knowledge of another NATO member-state language is an assetDesirable
  • Deep knowledge of Software and Computers
  • Previous experience and knowledge as technical author in area of Cybersecurity
  • Prior experience of working in international environment comprising both military and civilian elementsCandidates must be eligible to work in the EU
