Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Storage/Backup Engineer to work at NCIA in Mons.

Responsibilities

  • As Storage/Backup Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for management and maintenance of the data storage systems according to NCIRC NCSC. Daily tasks include working with storage-attached systems, disk arrays, FibreChannel switches, NAS appliances, tape libraries, servers, and various storage and backup related software products. The Storage/Backup Engineer reports to the Head, Platform and Infrastructure Management Section and will work with engineers within Infrastructure Branch. Main responsibilities, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ensure maintenance, security, and availability of Storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to CSSL tight operations, security, and procedural models
  • Support the Initiation, preparation, follow-up and defence of the specialist applications upgrades in front of the Change Management Board.
  • Manage the SAN that provides hard disk space to the servers via NCIRC network.
  • Manage and maintain data backup infrastructure to provide reliable restore capabilities to data wners.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plans: implement associated backups.
  • Work with storage-attached systems, disk arrays, FibreChannel switches, NAS appliances, tape libraries, servers, and storage and backup related software products. (check devices)
  • Develop and maintain tools and automation for storage and backup environment.
  • Responsible for storage infrastructure system management including capacity planning, snapshots, performance monitoring/tuning and security management.

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Essential to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science combined with minimum of 5 years’ experience as Storage Engineer or similar position, or secondary education and completed advanced vocational education (leading to professional qualification or professional accreditation) with 7 years post related experience, with demonstrated experience in following areas:
  • Expert knowledge of storage system management tools and software.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in SAN/Storage/Backup Administration , including storage system performance analysis troubleshooting & resolution of complex problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of storage concepts and architecture, specifically within the EMC VNX, Brocade switches, and EMC Data Domain including HP C7000 blade enclosure and associated systems. ( include HW , brands / OEM)
  • Experience with backup/restore and archiving of data in a large environment, including both disk and tape backups and restores, with a clear understanding of IT processes and best practices related to backup and recovery
  • A strong understanding of data storage components and protocols along with solid knowledge of different storage devices ( i.e FibreChannel architecture )
  • Software engineering including programming and/or scripting knowledge (python, shell scripting, PowerShell).

Desirable

  • Industry leading certification in the area of Cybersecurity such as CISSP, CISM, MCSE/S, CISA, GSNA, SANS GIAC.
  • Solid understanding of Information Security Practices; relating to Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information (CIA triad)
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
