Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Linux Engineer to join NATO – NCIA, at Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

As Linux Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for installing and monitor Unix/Linux open-source operating systems and specific apps according to NCIRC NCSC. The Linux Engineer will be responsible also for resolving user issues, address change management requests, and identifies potential issues by implementing protective and security measures. Linux Engineer reports to the Head, Platform Infrastructure Management Section to support underlying platforms and supporting engineers within Infrastructure Branch. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

– Contribute to a team responsible for the availability, scalability, and performance of NCSC environment and tools of big variety ( eg. ArcSight, Splunk, MISP and others)

– Maintain and develop custom systems and tools to improve ability to test, integrate, automate and effectively monitor custom and commercial applications in NCSC Linux environment;

– Support the Initiation, preparation, follow-up and defence of the specialist applications upgrades in front of the Change Management Board.

– Assist in the rollout and deployment of new features and installations inside NCIRC perimeter

– Create extensive documentation for current and future configuration processes and policies;

– Develop and maintain O&M Standard Operating Procedures for developed capabilities, implementing testing strategies and document results.

– Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems inside NCSC environment related to Linux O/S’s and their integration with the rest of infrastructure (e.g. AD Domain, SSO solution, web solution, Log Aggregation)

– Generate solutions to complex problems which integrate into NCSC environment

– Identify issues and create improvement processes to help with the reduction of incidents/outage times

– Work with Service Management team on standard operating procedures including Incident, Problem and Change Management to ensure monitoring of the systems

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Essential to have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science combined with minimum of 5 years’ experience in as Linux Engineer or similar position, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational education (leading to professional qualification or professional accreditation) with 7 years post related experience, with demonstrated experience in following areas:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing Unix/Linux infrastructure and related tools.
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting and managing a large number of complex multi-server, multi-vendor, multi-technology infrastructure ( i.e include tools, apps, etc)
  • Tools: RHEL, VMWARE, CENTOS, SPACEWALK, SELINUX, DOCKER or equivalent
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
  • Good understanding of the design and configuration of UNIX/Linux systems.
  • Software engineering including programming and/or scripting knowledge (Python, shell scripting, PowerShell).
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and major protocols
  • Experience with Virtualization (VMWare)
  • Desirable
  • – Strong knowledge of databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, query language, monitoring and troubleshooting
  • – Prior experience with Linux Automation solutions (e.g. Ansible, Puppet)
  • – Industry leading certification in the area of Cybersecurity such as CISSP, CISM, MCSE/S, CISA, GSNA, SANS GIAC
  • – Solid understanding of Information Security Practices; relating to Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information (CIA triad)
  • – Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
