Sapienza Consulting is recruiting a Tactical CIS Engineer to work at NATO NCIA in Mons, Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical CIS technical and professional guidance to scientific and engineering projects including, but not limited to: concept development, research, prototyping, experimentation and demonstrations, as well as support to operations
  • Participate in the formulation, planning and execution of technical and scientific NATO and multinational programmes of work in tactical CIS are as including tactical communications and doctrine, tactical waveform development, mobile wireless communications, and radio spectrum
  • Develop tactical communications business cases, strategies and implementation plans
  • Develop and present tactical CIS scientific, engineering, and technical information suitable for official meetings and high-quality publications
  • Give scientific briefings and presentations
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and hosting of formal and informal visits, meetings and conferences with representatives of military, civil and industrial organizations
  • Performs other duties as may be required

Profile

  • Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
  • Master of Science (MSc) degree at a reputable university in a related discipline with minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-related experience; Or exceptionally, the lack of a degree may be compensated by a lower academic qualification combined with the demonstration of particular abilities or experience of relevance to this post
  • Planning, design, system engineering and implementation of large tactical wireless systems or networks in military and/or civil contexts
  • Wireless communications systems both at the physical layer and at system level including protocols and wireless technologies
  • Radio wave propagation mechanisms, impairments and mitigations in VHF to SHF bands;
  • Assessment of the state of wireless communication technologies and their implementation approaches and associated risks and opportunities
  • Radio wave propagation in VHF to SHF bands
  • System engineering and radio planning of complex mobile/tactical communications systems
  • Tactical waveform development
  • Spectrum management including interference analyses and sharing studies
  • Development of tactical CIS doctrine in military contexts
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) networks and protocols
  • Experience in supporting ICT projects for large organizations
  • Ability to apply architecture methodologies to express complex systems of systems in architectural terms and models of varying detail
  • Recognized track record in dealing with stakeholders, understanding their needs, problems, and requests and proposing constructive ways ahead
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English both in writing and orally with excellent writing and briefing skills to different types of audiences
