Financial, Scheduler & Project Control

Every organization needs controller of some kind, and the European Space Agency (ESA) is no exception. With a 2019 budget of €5.72 billion, 22 member states, 8 ESA sites and dozens of missions (future and current) a variety of project controllers, financial controller and schedulers are needed to ensure that milestones are met on time and on budget.

Typical requirements in this domain include:

  • Preparing, maintaining and reporting on the overall programmatic aspects (cost, finance, schedule, industrial return, risk, progress control as well as general project administration) of the project/missions;
  • Perform schedule analysis through Critical Path Analysis, Trend Chart Analysis and simulations;
  • Maintenance of related work/procurement plans and related execution and contract actions plans;
  • Assisting in the preparation of long-term, medium term and in-year resource plans;
  • Monitoring and controlling the implementation of the plans in line with resource targets, performing forecasting, identifying deviations and related recovery actions, producing related reports;
  • Cost at Completion (CAC), financial planning and associated reporting activities;
  • SAP (ESA-p), MS Project, Primavera, Excel;
  • IPSAS.

General requirements:

  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of another member state language is an advantage;
  • Master’s degree in Finance or relevant;
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience in a relevant field;
  • Eligible to work in the EU;
  • EU Secret Security clearance is considered an advantage;
  • Candidates without the required degree or years of experience are encouraged to send in their CV as well as these are not hard requirements.
