TP Sapienza Europe is embarking on an exciting journey and we are currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Bid Manager responsible for the successful delivery and submission of winning bids for a variety of new and existing contract growth opportunities within our key market segments. In this newly created role you will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced and professional multiple-disciplinary team drawn from across the Defence, Aerospace and Energy sector.

You will need to have experience of delivering successful bids that meet customer expectations and have a good understanding of bid life-cycle management, including capture, qualification and developing capture plans, winning strategies and proposal writing. Your role will involve undertaking the entire bid process.

As such, you will be the primary contact point for all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that deliverables are produced in-line with requirements, are to an exceptional standard, and are managed through the relevant stage gate/quality reviews and approval process.

The ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams of varying experience and knowledge of the tender process, build strong lasting relationships with both customers, industry partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders  (Board Directors, Senior Leadership Team) is a must, together with having excellent organisational, analytical and team working skills. Ambition and accountability is key to this role together with the enthusiasm to drive the bid through to a successful conclusion.

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. You must have a good understanding in one of our key markets with a preference for the space sector.  
 
We are open to this person working remotely from within Europe with a preference towards the UK, France, Netherlands or Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full bid management coverage for opportunities, from identification through to contract award, including Capture Planning, Proposal Planning, Proposal Writing and Bid Submission, ensuring a timely delivery of a compliant and commercially sound proposals.
  • Devise a successful strategy for winning a bid/proposal, including pinpointing win themes, hot buttons, unique selling points, key differentiators from our competitors and ensuring that proposals are aligned to prospective client requirements maximising our win probability.
  • Rapidly interpret prospect requirements and communicate these to the Bid team members and key stakeholders to support effective estimation and proposal development.
  • Work with key members of the project delivery team and the client organisation to obtain the information required to compile the bid.
  • Build consortia with partners, subcontractors and associates to address each opportunity.
  • Lead, coordinate and write full proposals with support from the technical, service delivery, legal and commercial teams.
  • Research, write, edit and/or manage technical input from subject matter experts.
  • Own the production and review of the final written proposal and supporting documentation – both in terms of content and presentation, working with the solution/delivery and external partners (when applicable) to communicate their propositions in a client-centric manner.
  • Organise and oversee the estimation process and work with the Finance team to define pricing strategy for each opportunity ensuring profitable growth for the organisation.
  • Identify, capture and evaluate all key risks (technical and commercial, assumptions, issues and dependencies, working with the Bid team to calculate the risk value/budget
  • Lead definition and implementation of requirements traceability and compliance analysis for proposals.
  • Manage the bid through the relevant stage gate/quality reviews and approval boards, co-ordinating the production of gate/approval board input, recording/communicating meeting decisions and obtaining all necessary sign offs.
  • Oversee the issue of the proposal, supporting the client’s approval process, and co-ordinating any responses to client questions/queries.
  • Facilitate ‘Bid’ lessons learned sessions, ensuring these are captured, communicated and applied to future propositions.
  • Provide leadership to the organization for process improvement including the skills, methods and tools for Proposal Development.
  • Ensure successful and smooth transition of the bid to the the service delivery management organisation and contribute to preparing, organising and validating the project/programme launch.
  • Aside specific bid opportunities, build strong business cases/ innovative projects opportunities based on TPG Sapienza capabilities, products and services to be presented to internal and external clients

Profile

  • University degree in economics, engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 +years strong field experience in space – Earth Observation, Navigation or Telecommunications highly desirable.
  • Familiar with both government and commercial clients in the space sector.
  • Relevant experience in Bid & Proposal Management of complex and challenging proposals.
  • Proven track record of successful wins of complex innovative offers is a must.
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” mentality: entrepreneurial, flexible and open minded.
  • Ability to overview complex situations and to manage multi-task environments
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audience.
