Sapienza Consulting, a Serco company is working with many exciting new ventures around the world involved with innovative New Space technologies surrounding earth observation.

On behalf of our client, we are looking for Senior Embedded System Design Specialist. As Senior Embedded System Design Specialist, you will help take state-of-the-art FPGA computing platforms beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be working with satellite payloads, science instruments, and vision processing algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Design FPGA-based embedded processor systems
• Liaise with clients to develop requirements and implementation
• Develop and design platform architectures
• Generate schematic capture (Altium Designer)
• Generate PCB layouts (Altium Designer)
• Lead internal technical team and subcontractors
• Oversee and manage subcontractors for custom hardware
• Work with test team to develop and execute functional and environmental hardware test plans
• Generate technical reports for design reviews
• Take part in the continuous improvement and application of QA and development processes

You will also take part in:

• FPGA logic development
• Software development
• Quality and process assurance

Profile

Hardware Design:

• Schematic capture using Altium Designer
• Layout using Altium Designer

Hardware Knowledge:

• FPGA
• RAM
• FLASH (NOR and NAND)
• Interfaces (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, PCI, USB)
• High speed serial transceivers (LVDS, PCIe, SATA, USB 3.0)

Hardware Debugging: Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Logic analysers

Hardware Project Management

Nice to haves:

• Xilinx
• Microsemi
• C
• Python
• Windows, Linux
• Git

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Microelectronics or equivalent level of education
• 5+ years’ experience
• Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance
• You are self-motivated and can operate with minimal direction
• Must be a strong communicator and comfortable in support roles with customers
