Sapienza Consulting is working with many exciting new ventures around the world involved with innovative New Space technologies surrounding earth observation. On behalf of our Canadian client Xiphos Systems Corporation, founded in 1996, a vibrant and energetic company in the heart of Montreal’s Plateau area we are recruiting Production Systems Test Technician.

Xiphos’ primary markets are small satellites, space station applications, as well as lunar landers, rovers, and robotics. Xiphos has delivered standard and custom products all over the world and has been essential to many successful space missions. With low power consumption, high processing power, enhanced flexibility, excellent robustness, and proven functions available off-the-shelf, our client’s Q-cards are increasingly the preferred solution in the fast-growing field of NewSpace.

Reporting to the Test Team Lead, Xiphos is looking for a Production Test Technician with hands-on experience working with aerospace flight hardware. In this role, you will be testing Q-cards in Xiphos production lines, executing test procedures, and building test equipment. You will also solder various components on circuit boards based on customer configurations or test applications. Finally, you will support our test lab by performing equipment calibration, ESD verification, and inventory management. The responsibilities for this position require the ideal candidate to work entirely on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance testing on production units
  • Visual inspection of electronics under a microscope
  • Perform hardware checkout of electronics
  • Load test software
  • Run functional test scripts
  • Conduct thermal cycle testing
  • Document test results
  • Build custom test hardware such as harnesses, EGSE, mechanical enclosures, mounting plates
  • Integration of test hardware; flight and engineering models with associated EGSE
  • Solder various components onto our Q-cards
  • Execute test procedures
  • Perform test lab support; equipment calibration, ESD verification, inventory management

Profile

You should have experience with:

  • Working in a lab environment: ESD, Clean-rooms, test benches, flight hardware
  • Quality Inspections: IPC-A-610
  • Soldering: Surface mount and through hole on PCB’s
  • Aerospace assembly, integration, and test (AIT)
  • Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE): power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes
  • Building Cable Harnesses

Nice to have experience with:

  • Reading engineering drawings
  • PCB manufacturing process
  • Running automated test scripts
  • Scripting language: Python
  • Linux command line
  • Any CAD Software
  • Version control

Your background:

  • 2+ years experience
  • Technical certificate or associates degree related to electronics
