We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Hardware Engineer – Analog and Power Supply. This position will be based in our clients San Diego office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high speed circuit design incorporating hardware devices such as CPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, ASIC, RF ICs, ADC/DAC, PA, LNA, antenna and  battery
  • Architect, design and test power management and distribution circuits for telecommunication products using Li-ion battery, vehicular supply,  AC-DC converter and solar panel
  • Evaluate customer and regulatory agency’s requirements related to emission and power supply safety. Propose and implement solutions to meet such requirements
  • Provide guidance and suggestion to improve efficiency, performance, reliability of power distribution system across multiple product lines
  • Create detail design documentation, schematics, BOMs, analysis, test plan to support verification, regulatory testing of hardware design during  prototype, certification and production phases
  • Work closely with RF, system and software engineering teams to define and design various low power operating products
  • Lead and guide technicians, junior hardware and factory test engineers on hardware design and test methodology and debug efforts

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • 8 years of experience in various switching power supply circuit design, AC-DC, DC-DC converters, Li-ion battery charging and testing, power conditioning, circuit protection, power distribution in noisy environment
  • 5 years of experience in design with low-voltage, low noise power supply, power moding and power saving techniques for multi-core embedded processor/DSP hardware system operating in industrial temperature range
  • 5 years of design experience in EMI and noise reduction, optimizing signal integrity and power efficiency
  • 5 years design experience with PCB layout, stackup design, placement and routing using CAD tools and software package eg Allegro for review and guiding CAD engineer on critical routing
  • 5 years electrical hardware engineering experience working with high speed hardware circuit design using portable or fixed power source
  • 5 years experiences with following test equipment’s: high speed oscilloscope, bus protocol analyzer, logic analyzer, signal generators, temperature chamber, signal generators, soldering equipment
  • Must be a US citizen

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with strong knowledge in power and analog circuits, mixed-signal system, ADC/DAC, power-management IC (PMIC) for multiple power domain and sequencing. Experience with high speed, high density digital and analog PCB design
  • Experience with various communication bus protocols eg USB, 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, UART, I2C, SPI bus
  • Experience with managing a team of engineers designing a product from prototype phase to final production
  • Experience working with QA engineers and factory test engineers to come up with factory test plan / procedures to improve yield and quality of production units
  • Experience with sourcing electronic components and working with domestic, international component vendors, distributors
  • Experience with managing 3rd party design contractor or vendor is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and team working skills
