About this job

Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company is working with many exciting new ventures around the world involved with innovative New Space technologies surrounding earth observation.

On behalf of our client Orbitare, we are looking to recruit a Software Defined Network Architect based in Luxembourg to contribute to the development of Spaceloop, a next-generation personal satellite communication system. The Spaceloop network connects remote users among each other and with users connected to the internet in a network where users, satellites and gateways are generally not in simultaneous view of each other. The functions of the network are providing and managing access to the network, converting between frames and higher order data, transporting frames across the satellite network addressing them to users via optimal routing, managing persistence, supporting IP protocols and making interface with the internet.

The incumbent will take ownership and develop further the current network design, implementation and testing to meet the QoS requirements. The scope of work of the position comprises the definition and implementation of the architecture, the proprietary communication protocols and routing algorithms, and the solutions for the MAC, network, and application layers. As part of a larger system, the post holder shall understand the interaction of the network design with the other components – both software and hardware – and identify opportunities to improve the performance of the system.

The post holder will report to the communication system engineer and will manage the network software engineering team and the external suppliers in his domain. He will also collaborate with the PHY layer development team and with the Spectrum engineer on a regular basis, participating in the definition and evaluation of the in-orbit testing of the two In-Orbit Demonstration missions currently in orbit.

This position requires someone familiar will all aspects of telecommunication systems and with the dynamics of complex projects, that thrives in a dynamic cross-functional organization, is not afraid to debate ideas openly, and is flexible enough to pivot on constantly evolving requirements.
