Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company is working with many Satcom and New Space players all over the globe.

On behalf of our one of our UAE customers, we are in need of a Manager RF Systems Engineering. This person will be responsible as part of the Systems Engineering team of line of site and Satcom data link system design as part of Business Development and Customer delivery projects.

Supports the commercial sales team in generating technical proposals. Supports the project implementation from project requirements through project Preliminary and Critical Design processes, including the presentation at customer design reviews and the generation of design documents and drawings. Supports the specification and design oversight of supplier Satcom and Line of sight system components. Supports end to end link integration and verification activities.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the design of medium and large scale projects as per customer requirements, by producing high quality design solutions. Generate complex link budgets and optimised customer communications scenarios in support of the business development and project implementation process. Produce customer end to end RF Network designs and provide support to the Systems Engineering and Systems integration process by ensuring that the evolving design is supported and issues resolved. Assist Support customer design reviews.  Assist in the management technical risks providing expert knowledge of mitigation and fallback solutions.
2. Assist in the production of innovative and cost effective technical proposals and initiatives to support business development – including product development initiatives and vendor partnership initiatives; and sales including the generation of customer solutions, technical presentations to customer, Technical Specifications and Proposals, and Statements of Work
3. Implement designs and resolve design problems throughout the project lifecycle, supporting RF link issues during the test and validation process
4. Support Post Delivery design issues, providing advice to in-service support teams and resolving latent design problems
5. Manage customer and suppliers efficiently. Ensure customer’s satisfaction assuring their trust and credibility to successfully delivery technical solutions. Oversee and control supplier design and development through detailed reviewing of supplier outputs from tendering through to delivery

6. Mentor and train junior staff as required and ensure continuing development and evolution of technical expertise within the department

Profile

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

1.      Project and Task Management

·      Assist the development of work breakdown structures for project design tasks as required

·      Execute requirements, design and development tasks on time and to the required quality

·      Managing technical risks including analysis and defining  and implementing risk mitigation and fallback plans

2.      Systems Engineering

·      Working to common System Design and Engineering practices, processes and standards

·      Production of high quality Systems Analysis and Design documentation

·      Execute Systems Analysis tasks and production of Systems Analysis Reports

3.      Communications Engineering

·      Expert working knowledge of RF Communications Engineering including RF link design and analysis for Satcom datalinks in different frequency bands, optimising single and multiple carrier and multiple terminal scenarios across multiple Satellite beams.

·      Advanced knowledge of the communications standards necessary for military grade systems, including MIL-STD, ETSI and ITU

4.      Customer Management

·      Participating in senior level technical client interaction, including design reviews and technical proposal presentation

·      Developing good relationships with client personnel and a high level of trust

·      Communicating effectively with clients to identify their requirements

5.      Satellite and Product Technology

·      Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of satellite modem technology, including RF Waveforms, MODCOD, FEC, ACM, Spread Spectrum and frequency hopping technology

·      Very good knowledge of satellite communication payload technology to enable satellite beam and transponder optimisation for customer scenario optimisation

6.      Vendor Management

·        vendor interaction for the full lifecycle from assessing candidate supplier solutions subcontracted supplier design and development activities and sub-system delivery and acceptance

·        Developing effective relationships with vendor personnel

·        Communicating effectively with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of designs and solutions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

·        Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent, Telecommunications and Electrical are essential.

·        Master of Science in Engineering is a plus

·        10+ years in technical roles in satellite communications companies
