Sapienza, a tpgroup company are recruiting junior and senior data processing engineers to work on our Customers Site (EUMETSAT) to support the Copernicus missions.

Responsibilities

You will be providing services to the Data Processing Systems and Applications Competence Area (DPSA/CA), supporting the Data Processing Engineering activities of the EUMETSAT ground segment for existing and future missions. This includes the development, maintenance and evolution of data processing systems and applications for existing and/or future programmes and the system engineering of Level 1 and Level 2 processing as regards interfaces, processing frameworks, infrastructure and S/W releases preparation.

You will provide data processing engineering expertise services to the Copernicus (Sentinel-3, Sentinel-6 or other EU funded missions) Data Processing Engineering Teams of the DPSA-CA within EUMETSAT.

You will contribute to activities related to Data Processing Systems Engineering (DPE) in support of the S3 Marine PDGS/PDP or the S6 PDP maintenance. The maintenance covers anomaly corrections, software release processes and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination with the rest of the Sentinel-3 or Sentinel-6 ground segments. Over time, the service might also support other new Copernicus missions.

Profile

  • Proven experience with data processing (Level-0, Level-1 and Level-2) of meteorological and/or earth observation products from Satellites instruments.
  • Proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V) of data processing systems and/or processors, including generation of test plan, test specification, procedures and test reports for end-to-end processing chains
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and databases (e.g. Perl, Python, shell, PostgreSQL)
  • Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • Practical knowledge in Configuration Control
  • High degree of working autonomy
  • Problem solving
  • Good Analytical skills
  • University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Spacecraft and/or ground segment operations
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java and IDL)
  • Knowledge of Knowledge and/or experience of quality control, calibration and validation
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards

*for the senior positions you would require the ability to manage a service team of similar size (4+), preferably in a similar environment to EUMETSAT (for SM)
