Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company, is recruiting a team of Data Processing Engineers for Sapienza to work on our Customers Site (EUMETSAT)

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate to the activities in the area of data processing in support of operations as required by the programme needs.
  • Provide inputs and contribute to relevant technical and progress meetings.
  • Provide inputs and contribute to relevant S3 PDGS/PDP, S6 PDP and system level reviews and milestones.
  • Participate to the interaction with relevant partner organisations as necessary.
  • Provide expertise to the evolution of test & reporting tools necessary for the ongoing activities, such as the ATE (Automatic Test Environment).
  • Contribute to software and hardware configuration deployment, configuration control and verification activities:
    • Contribute and/or Coordinate, as required, the preparation of ETs (e.g.: SWETs/HWETs) for new patches/releases of software/hardware;
    • Contribute, as required, to build and install new software releases;
    • Contribute, as required, to install software patches;
    • Contribute, as required, to verify correct performance/behaviour of new patches and releases on the reference chain and for subsequent release on the operational chain;
    • Contribute, as required, to support the installation of new hardware;
    • Contribute, as required, to use ATE (Automatic Test Environment) for verification of new patches/releases of software;
    • Contribute, as required, to plan and coordinate the inclusion of additional products on the operational chain;
    • Contribute, as required, to the planning of the activities.
    • Develop as needed ad-hoc monitoring and testing tools (as required) for system monitoring, verification and validation support documenting them and maintaining under configuration control for team re-usage;
    • Contribute to mid and short term S3 PDGS/PDP planning
  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and evolution of the SW for S3 PDGS/PDP and S6 PDP reporting.
  • Provide expertise and contribute to data processing system level engineering activities:
    • Contribute and/or Coordinate to anomaly or improvements investigation and analysis of the S3 PDGS/PDP and S6 PDP Infrastructure components;
    • Contribute and/or Coordinate SWETs/ECPs/Technical Notes as required for improvements to the payload data processing systems.
    • Contribute regularly to the documentation update, maintenance and configuration control.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge on assigned S3 PDGS/PDP and S6 PDP components maintaining an up to date knowledge at processing and ground segment level.
  • Provide training to the members of the SEP Data Processing CompetenceArea on S3 or S6 elements (where needed and when requested)
  • Contribute to Anomaly processing activities (where possible):
    • Investigation, identification and fixing of application software problems;
    • Investigation and implementation of new software requirements;
    • Participate, as required, at Anomaly Review Boards (ARBs) and Change Review Boards (CRBs).
  • Contribute to documentation activities, such as e.g. the technical baseline documentation (ADD, ICD, STB, etc.).
  • Contribute to other Software engineering tasks as required.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in engineering
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Relevant experience in provision of service in the field of system engineering.
  • A proven record of accomplishment in the timely replacement of key persons on team-based service engagements.
  • Proven experience with data processing (Level-0, Level-1 and Level-2) of meteorological and/or earth observation products from Satellites instruments
  • Proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V) of data processing systems and/or processors, including generation of test plan, test specification, procedures and test reports for end-to-end processing chains
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and databases (e.g. Perl, Python, shell, PostgreSQL)
  • Proven experience in System Engineer development and system design
  • Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation
  • Practical knowledge in Configuration Control
  • Knowledge in Computer systems, Network systems and IT Security
  • High degree of working autonomy
  • Problem solving
  • Good analytical skills
  • High degree of interpersonal awareness
  • Experience in working as part of a multicultural team
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of another ESA member-state language is an asset

Skills and experiences considered an asset

  • Knowledge of Spacecraft and/or ground segment operations
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java and IDL)
  • Knowledge of Knowledge and/or experience of quality control, calibration and validation
  • Knowledge of Development and maintenance of operational procedures and/or configuration data
  • Knowledge of Development and maintenance of operational procedures and/or configuration data
