Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company, is recruiting a Media Relations Officer for Sapienza to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC).

Sapienza has been a partner of ESA for almost 30 years, and we pride ourselves in supporting a wide range of missions including Galileo, MTG, Copernicus and ExoMars. Our team is international with activities across the U.K., the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, initiate, coordinate and implement the media relation activities at ESTEC, ECSAT and ESEC in close coordination with the Communication Programme Officers, the Outreach team and site services;
  • Coordinate and implement media relation activities related to the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and Poland and/or any other ESA Member State in the future
  • Keep a log-file of all media requests;
  • Contribute to media insight analysis;
  • Maintain and use relevant journalist and influencer databases;
  • Maintain the list of ESA spokespersons;
  • Deal with requests from media for interviews, information and support related to ESTEC/ECSAT/ESEC, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and Poland, ensuring coherent messaging and answering journalist queries in a timely manner;
  • Organise interviews and briefings for individual journalists as appropriate;
  • Organise media events;
  • Ensure the newsroom and media relations processes are coherently implemented between the establishments
  • Prepare, send and update press releases and news releases
  • Organise media partnerships (such as documentary legal forms, press photography projects) together with partnerships team
  • Keep a close relationship with Communication Programme Officers in HRE, TIA, TEC, NAV, SCI to find media opportunities
  • Publish ESA press releases on the ESA website
  • Support media training requirements for ESA staff in HRE, TIA, TEC, NAV, SCI
  • Provide ad hoc media briefings for ESA staff not accustomed to media interviews

Profile

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Good knowledge of the UK media market and experience in media relations in the UK;
  • Knowledge of the Dutch, Belgian or French media market with media relations experience in one of those countries;
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, e.g. communicating and interacting with individuals at all levels, and the capability of identifying priorities and handling high workload with a proactive approach to problem solving, are required;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, as well as initiative and motivation to perform to high standards in a demanding environment, are required;
  • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule is required;
  • An open multi-cultural attitude, while caring for accuracy on the job and trustworthiness, is required;
  • Experience in an international organisation or multi-cultural working environment will be a key asset;
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of another ESA member-state language is an asset;
