Sapienza Consulting, a tpgroup company, is recruiting a Software & Validation (On-Board & Ground) Engineer for Sapienza to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC).

Responsibilities
The Candidate will be assigned to ESA/ESTEC’s Flight Software Systems Section of the Software Systems Division within the directorate of Technical and Quality Management, in the function of on-board software system engineer, and will be in charge of the following tasks:
- Supporting a variety of ESA space missions in the field of real-time embedded software and systems;
- Participating in the full development lifecycle of the mission and on-board software;
- Identifying technical risks and critical areas in the development process while assisting in their resolution;
- Applying the principles of mission & safety critical software development across multiple disciplines
- Providing expert technical support and consultancy to general activities in the field of real-time embedded software systems, flight software systems development and software validation facilities focused on both simulated environments and hardware in the loop.
Profile
- Master’s degree in computer science, electronic engineering, space systems engineering, telecommunications, mathematics or related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in real-time embedded software (e.g. SPARC LEON processors, ARM, RISC-V, etc; multicore platforms, IMA/TSP, RTOS,…).
- Knowledge of all phases of the software development lifecycle (e.g. requirements engineering, design, coding, V&V, functional validations at system level, support to operations, agile methodology…).
- Experience in software development projects (e.g. C/C++, Ada & assembly programming languages; SW development environments, SW Validation facilities and ground testbeds & support equipment)
- Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities (e.g. elaboration of statement of work, user specifications, proposal evaluation, supplier interactions, monitoring progress and quality, acceptance,…).
- Experience with Space Software Engineering Standards and their application, or equivalent standards in other domains.
- Spacecraft systems knowledge, and experience with SW Development for satellite platforms and/or payloads (e.g. experience with avionics subsystems and integrated flight hardware) would be an advantage.
- A good understanding of modern software engineering methods and tools, R&D trends and the industrial landscape.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of another ESA member-state language is an asset
