The European GNSS Agency (GSA) is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) EGNOS and Galileo. By developing a new generation of GNSS, Europe is laying the foundation for new high-technology industry development, leading to job creation and economic growth. These European flagship space programmes, which embody what can be achieved when Europe works together, are already bringing real benefits to people and business in Europe and around the world.

The GSA’s core mission is to ensure that European citizens get the most out of Europe’s satellite navigation programmes. The Agency does this by:
•Designing and enabling services that fully respond to user needs, while continuously improving the European GNSS services and infrastructure
•Managing the provision of services that ensure user satisfaction in the most cost-efficient manner
•Engaging market stakeholders to develop innovative and effective applications, value-added services and user technology that promote the achievement of full European GNSS adoption
•Ensuring that European GNSS services and operations are thoroughly secure, safe and accessible

The GSA is operated and supported by a multicultural team of professionals with interdisciplinary expertise working to ensure that the end-user is kept at the centre of Galileo and EGNOS.

Responsibilities

You will join the Office of the Executive Director to help us expand our digital and press footprint and your responsibilities will in principle include:
•Preparation and distribution of press-releases, position papers and articles for newspapers and other relevant channels as well as production of online content;
•Editing and proofreading content produced by all GSA teams;
•Editing and proofreading high-level policy papers and presentations for Agency stakeholders;
•Preparing speeches and associated presentations;
•Ensuring all-around consistency (style, imagery, and tone) in our written content;
•Monitoring media coverage relevant to the Agency;
•Liaising with the media and with the communication offices of the EC, concession holder, ESA and other stakeholders of the European GNSS programmes;
•Ensuring a regular and appropriate flow of information to the media, stakeholders and public opinion makers;
•Establishing and maintaining a network of relevant contacts with journalists, specialized press editors and opinion makers.

The Content Media Writer reports to the Executive Director or his/her assignee(s).

Profile

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.Have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma
2.Be a national of a Member State of the European Union
3.Be entitled to his or her full rights as citizen
4.Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service
5.Meet the character requirements for the duties involved
6.Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary for the performance of his/her duties
7.Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post

SELECTION CRITERIA

All eligible applications, according to the afore-mentioned criteria, will be assessed against the requirements listed below.

The Selection Board responsible for this selection will determine the criteria to be assessed in the various phases of the selection procedure (assessment of the application forms, interview and written test) prior to being granted access to the names of the applicants. All essential criteria will be assessed during the applications evaluation phase.

Non-compliance with any of the essential criteria may result in the exclusion of the candidate from the selection process. Advantageous criteria constitute additional assets and will not result in exclusion, if not fulfilled.

Essential criteria
1.University degree in the field of Journalism or other relevant subject (Humanities, Political Sciences, International Relations, Communications, etc.);
2.Proven experience in content writing role (preferably in English) in an organisation comparable in scope and standing with GSA or an established media outlet;
3.Experience in drafting articles, web content, speeches, newsletters, video scripts etc.;
4.Excellent command of both written and spoken English;

Advantageous criteria
5.Professional experience in a communications role in the aerospace/aviation/defence industry or in a comparable role working with complex subject matter;
6.Very good command of one or more additional European language in addition to English and native language, as demonstrated by certificates or recent professional experience;
