We have been selected by NASA to launch a pathfinding mission to lunar orbit in 2021. This historic mission will lay the groundwork for the Lunar Gateway, paving the way for future missions to the moon and further exploration of our solar system. This role is essential to the success of this mission and for future exploration opportunities.

Responsibilities

As the Avionics Manager, you are responsible for all aspects of the electronic systems or Electron launch vehicle providing technical direction and leadership of the Avionics engineering function. We are a high performing culture at Rocket Lab which means you will see your work in orbit within months! You will have the opportunity to work with a team of like-minded people who are passionate about space and what we can discover.

Profile

  • Electronics, Aerospace, Mechatronics engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • 8+ years relevant engineering experience
  • 5+ years proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Proven experience working to deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of people of varying backgrounds and personalities
  • Hands on experience in electronic design and testing, at a component and higher-level system architecture
  • Comfortable swing between low level technical dialogue to high level big picture systems thinking and decision making
