Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the role is to develop and consolidate the detailed design of the payload fairing from concept until production stage. Optimize for low-cost production and light weight and take part in the planning and coordination of structure manufacturing and testing.

More specifically, you will:

  • Take over the CAD-design of the payload fairing while keeping the manufacturing process in mind
  • Define and allocate the mechanical interfaces to primary structures, separation systems and payload bay
  • Work hand in hand with the structural analysis team for lightweight optimization
  • Coordinate the manufacturing process with industrial partners
  • Develop test plans and procedures for qualification and acceptance testing

Profile

Must have:

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or comparable
  • Excellent knowledge in lightweight and aerospace structure design
  • Strong practical experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Good knowledge in acoustics, heat transfer and aerodynamics
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and consonantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go out of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English. German is highly preferred

Nice to have:

  • Good knowledge in design and manufacturing processes of carbon composites
  • Professional experience in a design department inside the aerospace industry
  • Practical experience with FEM Analysis
