Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the role is to support the launch vehicle development with an interdisciplinary safety analysis of the launch vehicle and concept of operations in all phases from manufacturing through testing, assembly and launch to decommissioning. Pave the way to first launch by ensuring compliance with range safety and licensing regulations.

More specifically, you will:

  • Perform hazard analyses, containing:
    • Fragmentation models for breakup and explosions on ground and in-flight
    • Dispersion and impact analysis
    • Blast environment models for explosions on ground
    • Environmental impact studies
  • Perform FMECA (Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis) on top system level for all launch mission phases and coordinate FMECA on subsystem level
  • Take over risk management on top system level

Profile

Must have:

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or comparable
  • Experienced in Safety Engineering, preferably in aerospace industry
  • Good understanding of launch vehicle, trajectory and mission design
  • Good understanding of flight dynamics and explosives
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and consonantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go out of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English. German is highly preferred

Nice to have:

  • Practical experience in aviation safety
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and probabilistic
  • French (advanced in spoken and written)
