Responsibilities

The main purpose would be to help the test engineers build the test stand for Isar Aerospace Technologies’ liquid rocket engine and set up a workshop close to the test bench. As soon as test operations begin, the Test Bench Mechanic will support the test- and propulsion engineers to conduct their test campaigns on rocket engine prototypes and subsystems thereof.

More specifically, you will:

  • Be responsible to set-up and equip workshop at the test site
  • Be responsible to perform basic shop work
  • Filing, sawing, drilling
  • Support rocket engine test campaigns by preparing test articles and test bench in collaboration with test- and propulsion engineers
  • Be responsible for the build-up and to look after the maintenance of high pressure (up to 300 bar), cryogenic (down to -196°C) piping systems
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of sensor and actuator cabling (24V DC)

Profile

Must have

  • Successful apprenticeship/ technician in metal working job or similar
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and consonantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go out of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English. German is highly preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience in use of Swagelok fittings / Flange connections
  • Experience in tube bending and high-pressure piping installation
  • Welding Optimally TIG, or others
  • Fluent in English
