Space Applications Services is a company based in the Brussels area (BE) that provides products and services for the space sector in many areas from Avionics, Robotics, Human Exploration, Science and Earth Observation. The successful candidate will support the Mission of the Heliophysics Missions Cluster II and Solar Orbiter and will be based at our customer premises at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany. At Space Applications Services, the position is in the Services Department, Operations Team (comprises of 13 persons). The candidate will mainly report to the Operations Team Lead at Space Applications Services.

Responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of nominal and contingency Flight Operations Procedures (FOP)
  • Coordination of operations with the European Space Agency (ESA) internal and external partners
  • Execution of Mission Planning
  • Validation and Deployment of Ground Systems updates
  • General Flight Control Support including on-call
  • Spacecraft performance analysis and reporting on regular basis
  • Anomaly Investigation and (support to) resolution
  • On-Board Software Maintenance Support.

Profile

Qualifications and Experience In light of the Operations preparation and Operations Execution for the BIOMASS and FLEX mission, the candidate should have:

  • A University degree or equivalent education in a relevant discipline
  • A Spacecraft Operations Engineering profile with at least one of the following subsystem specialities:
    • Payload (including Payload Management) System Operations Engineering
    • AOCS Operations Engineering
    • Power-Thermal Operations Engineering
    • OBSM/TTC Operations Engineering
  • Experiences with:
    • Programming with Python
    • Software Engineering practices and technology (e.g. SQL/NoSQL, Angular, Django, Docker, GITLAB, web services)
  • Familiarity with:
    • Satellite control systems (SCOS-2000), simulators (SImSAT) and MOIS
    • On-Board Software (and OBCP development).
