Airbus is undergoing a significant digital transformation to benefit from the latest advances in new technologies. In this frame, DDMS (Digital Design Manufacturing and Services) is a company-wide transformation project targeting a major efficiency breakthrough across the program and product lifecycle. It will be enabled by a set of innovative concepts such as model based system engineering, modular product lines, digital continuity and concurrent co-design of the product, its industrial setup and operability features.

In this frame, a vacancy for an Industrial System Engineer (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus in Hamburg. You will join the Industrial System Modelling and Simulation team and you will support the sustainable success of legacy A/Cs and preparation of the step changes for the next A/C-program within the Industrial Digital Roadmap.

With a deep knowledge of lean principles and a proven experience in industrialisation and shop-floor execution, the jobholder (d/f/m) will address key Airbus industrial challenge through the Industrial System Design process methods and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop the best in class industrial system in a co-design principle with the Industrial Architect and Product architect, throughout the entire development process (from the product definition phases to the manufacturing process in its operating environment) and in the Serial Phase (analysing and optimising existing manufacturing systems during major mods and/or manufacturing step changes)
  • Provide industrial system expertise through process methods and tools on all the manufacturing stakes to be optimised (production cost, quality, lead-time, flexibility, time to market, etc.) by integrating worker, machine, material and information flows using digital means and models
  • Collect and define Lean Line Design guidelines and best practices to be applied on existing and new industrial systems
  • Define and deliver Industrial system design ways of working (Process, Methods nd Tools including Model Based Systems Engineering capabilities and requirements) to contribute to the development of a Digital Design and Manufacturing approach (DDM)
  • Increase the knowledge and autonomy of manufacturing communities by supporting the implementation of the Industrial System Design way of working and best practices in manufacturing areas including the engineering community
  • Promote the use of internal good practices and external benchmarking by acting transversally with the extended manufacturing communities
  • Support key Airbus industrial challenges as an expert and improve business performance by advising manufacturing stakeholders on business priorities and supporting the development of the most effective and efficient industrial system

This role will involve some travel for business (once a month) within Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Profile

  • You are educated to Master degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline
  • You have solid professional experience and knowledge in Manufacturing Engineering and
  • Long standing professional experience in Manufacturing
  • You have know-how in Process- and Product Industrialisation
  • It would be a plus if you bring along fist experience in manufacturing modelling tools (like AnyLogic, Plant simulation, Arena…) and experience in PLM tools ( like 3D experience, Teamcenter, …)
  • Language Skills: Negotiation level of German and English
