A vacancy for a Bid Manager (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “Combat Aircraft Bid and Capture Management”.

As a Bid Manager you will work within the Combat Aircraft Bid and Capture Management department (TMACE) and will be required to work on the campaign and non-campaign related bids in support of the Combat Aircraft Business. You will manage the Bid Phase, owning and leading the associated bids, including ensuring the required proposal material is available OTOQOC for review and submission.

Specifically for this role, in addition to core Bid Management activities predominantly around technical bid submissions, you also be responsible for engaging with the various business units, collecting, reviewing and updating information to maintain the Combat Aircraft bid data repository, used across all bids.

The successful candidate will ensure all allocated bids are delivered OTOQOC and also ensure the availability of cross-bid information is maintained at the most up-to-date status.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the bid to be delivered (OTOQOC)
  • Leading and managing the bid team, ensuring inter-departmental and inter-disciplinary leadership
  • Coordinating the offer/bid/proposal as well as the required bid preparation documents
  • Analysing customer requests and capture plans/books to prepare the bid phase and the bid plan
  • Analysis of the proposal requests of external or internal customers
  • Support to the Airbus gate reviews to ensure supporting material and information is available
  • Leading and co-ordination of the bid / campaign handover from the acquisition phase to the execution phase (MG04)
  • Preparing and providing a complete (considering commercial, economical, technical and service related aspects), competitive, binding offer corresponding to the needs of the customer and the company
  • Deliver to the different Campaign associated Bid Managers, a status of the currently held bid information (text and graphics) versus RFQ / RFI requirements
  • Perform regular engagement sessions with the other business units and disciplines across a diverse subject material on the new and update information requirements for the bids
  • Become the central interface within TMACE to the disciplines in ensuring current and up-to-date combat aircraft bid data is available
  • Act as custodian to update and maintain the Combat Aircraft Bid Data Repository
  • Cross-bid support to document production / submission as and when required

As is common across Sales and Business Growth activities, a certain amount of travel for business will be required and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Profile

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • You are educated to a degree level in engineering, business administration or equivalent
  • You have concise technical / engineering understanding
  • You are used to working with military aircraft information and have experience in working with military / governmental wording terms and phrases
  • You have detailed knowledge of military aircraft systems and support / maintenance concepts
  • You have experience in Project Management, knowledge of MS Project is advantageous
  • You have a good knowledge of company processes, especially in the ‘Acquire Business’ framework
  • You know, what information is required for the Airbus Gates and Reviews
  • You are able to understand, converse, work and exchange with a wide range of military aircraft bid related information (engineering, commercial, logistic etc.)
  • You are experienced in working with Airbus in-house databases and configuration management tools with database scripting ability advantageous
  • You have exemplary communication and inter-personal skills
  • You are able to motivate the delivery teams / information providers to perform under pressure
  • You speak English to negotiation level and it is a plus, if you speak German as well
