A vacancy for a “Structural Analysis Engineer Airframe” (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “Airframe – Structural Analysis”.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of structural parts, components and installations made from metal and carbon fiber materials using state of the art and advanced analysis tools and FEM techniques as well as classical handbook methods
  • Preparation of analysis reports and statements to support airframe qualification
  • Assessment of damages, development of repairs, generation of repair instructions and definition and analysis of structural changes
  • Support to manufacturing and assembly lines and evaluation of concessions and deviations
  • Definition of test requirements, test support, assessment of results and documentation
  • Structural mechanics support to our products for the complete life cycle from concept phase to qualification and in-service Support
  • Communication to relevant stakeholders and customers
  • Manage tasks and represent Structural Analysis interests in multidisciplinary projects taking into account quality, time and cost

Profile

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to a university degree in aerospace engineering (or equivalent)
  • Several years of experience as engineer in aircraft structural analysis
  • Good knowledge of standard stress and fatigue analysis methods (e.g.HSB, Bruhn, ESDU, Roak /Young)
  • Appropriate experience in the application of specific stress and fatigue analysis tools (e.g. Nastran, Hyperworks, AFGROW etc.)
  • Solid skills in FE Modeling techniques including pre- and post-processing
  • Knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes and materials (metals and fiber composite)
  • Knowledge in qualification and certification of aircraft structures as well as global understanding of aircraft development processes to support transversal activities in early project phases is a plus
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive attitude and willingness for teamwork in a transnational context with various interfaces to other disciplines
  • Open minded and motivated to accept new challenges
  • Fluent in English and German
