The Broughton plant manufactures wings for all Airbus commercial aircraft and the project management teams are at the forefront of this to ensure safe and efficient delivery of wings to our customers in the final assembly lines in Hamburg and Toulouse.

An exciting new opportunity within the Broughton plant to be involved in a major Airbus project with multiple complexities coupled with a wide scope of opportunities to learn.

The Project Sunset team are responsible for the management and closure of production of A380 wings. As a project management intern, you will work alongside the A380 business manager in Project Sunset and will be responsible for supporting weekly reviews with several functional heads across the business, enforcing governance, engagement and risk management surrounding Project Sunset. All of our intern managers have first-hand experience of the early careers programmes in Airbus so are able to ensure that personal development goals as well as business goals are met during the placement.

Responsibilities

The project management internship will give you the opportunity to:

  • Work with multi-functional teams giving insight into finance, quality, logistics and others
  • Gain real life experience in the world of aircraft manufacture
  • Report and influence operational cost management
  • Work with Airbus’ risk management system (ARM)
  • Facilitate reviews and present to teams
  • Liaise with central Airbus based in Toulouse
  • Understand the process and levels of governance required to shut down a factory
  • Develop an expanding network with functional heads and key members within the business

Reporting to the project management team in the business area, you will be given specific tasks and responsibilities to help the business achieve its operational objectives.

Topics will include:

  • Generating tactical implementation plans (TIP) to create targets for the Project Sunset team
  • Tool/Stock management
  • Creating and communicating business KPI’s efficiently
  • Exploring and working with key stakeholders
  • Driving Airbus to finding new ways of innovating and digitalizing
  • Adopting an agile way of thinking and using this daily

Profile

You must be an undergraduate for the full duration of the placement studying towards a business related degree.
